What our customers value most is that the same container goes from the freezer to the microwave without changing dishes: ‘I’m replacing my plastic containers with glass ones; it’s really handy that they can go in both the microwave and the freezer’. Another customer highlights the ‘thick glass’ and the ‘lid with 4 locking points’, and several repeat that ‘the lid fits perfectly’. The most requested size is the 400 ml, followed by the 850 ml.
To make it last for years, there are three things to bear in mind. Only the glass body goes in the oven, never the plastic lid. In the microwave, remove the lid or rest it on top without fastening the clips so the steam can escape. And avoid sudden changes in temperature: don’t move the container straight from the freezer to a hot oven, and never put it over a direct flame or on an induction hob, because it is not a cooking dish.
In the freezer, if you are storing stocks or soups, leave a finger’s width free below the rim: liquid expands as it freezes. Dry the silicone seal thoroughly after washing so it doesn’t hold on to odours. Being glass, it won’t stain with tomato or curry, doesn’t absorb odours like low-quality plastic and doesn’t transfer substances into food when heated.
For a single portion, the 850 or 900 ml; the 1,050 ml holds a large portion with a side; the 1,600 ml stores two portions or the leftovers from a family meal; the 400 ml is for sauces, chopped fruit or small portions.
Yes, the borosilicate glass body withstands up to 450 °C according to Ibili, so it can be used for heating or browning under the grill. The plastic lid does not go in the oven.
The glass, yes; the lid is best removed or rested on top without fastening the clips, so the steam can escape and the seal doesn’t suffer.
Yes, down to −40 °C. If you freeze liquids, don’t fill it to the rim. Let it thaw before putting it in a hot oven.
Ibili classes it as airtight: the lid has a silicone seal and four locking tabs that press down onto the glass. It is suitable for carrying food, although with liquids it is best kept horizontal.
This listing is for individual units, in the capacity you choose. If you want several, we also have the set of 3 Lunch Away glass food containers.
