Find everything you need for serving and the table in the Hiperchef catalogue. This category brings together the service and plating items used every day in catering and in demanding home kitchens: trays and serving dishes, jugs and dispensers, slotted spoons and ladles, tongs and servers, roll holders, bread baskets, table knives and cutlery, oyster knives and tin openers, seafood accessories and all the kit that surrounds the moment of service.

Utensils and accessories for serving at the table

The way you serve a dish shapes the diner's first impression as much as the recipe itself. That's why this category brings together professional kit proven over years in restaurants, event venues and private kitchens: presentation trays, oven-to-table serving dishes, water and wine jugs, oil and vinegar dispensers, meat and seafood tongs, slotted spoons and kitchen ladles. The aim is for every utensil to be sturdy, easy to clean and pleasant to handle during service.

Trays, serving dishes and servers

Stainless steel trays are the most standard solution in catering: gastronorm for buffets, oval for classic presentation, round for circular dishes. They pair with oven dishes that are also table-safe, plate stands and cutlery holders. Servers (tongs, ladles, slotted spoons, turners) in solid 18/10 steel are the favourites for their durability and for keeping their edge and rigidity with use.

Table cutlery and knives

For catering, you want cutlery that feels balanced in the hand, with enough weight to convey quality yet light enough for prolonged use. You'll find cutlery in mirror-polished and matt finishes, in 18/10 and 18/0 alloys, as well as table knives designed specifically for meat, cheese and fish. The service knives we offer come from European manufacturers with a proven heritage.

Tongs, oyster knives and seafood accessories

A well-designed pair of seafood tongs, a pair of forks made specifically for fish and shellfish, a good oyster knife and shellfish crackers are essentials in any restaurant with seafood on the menu. This section also includes apple corers, canapé sticks and tasting spoons.

Frequently asked questions about serving and tableware utensils

Which cutlery is best for catering, 18/10 or 18/0?

Cutlery marked 18/10 (18% chromium and 10% nickel) is the most recommendable because it keeps its shine better, doesn't rust and stands up better to heavy use and the industrial dishwasher. 18/0 is more economical and magnetic, suitable for less demanding institutional use. For restaurants with tablecloths and a discerning clientele, 18/10 makes the difference.

What tray size is common for plating?

The most used sizes are the gastronorm GN 1/1 (530×325 mm) as a base, GN 1/2 (325×265) for partial dishes and oval trays of 30-45 cm for classic table presentation. For buffets, GN 2/1 (650×530) and depths of 20, 40, 65 or 100 mm.

Can glass jugs go in the dishwasher?

Most tempered glass and borosilicate jugs can; jugs with decorative silver or enamel banding need hand washing to avoid losing the finish. Always check each product's specification, where it's indicated.

Which serving tongs do you recommend for catering?

For general use, 18/10 stainless steel tongs of 23-30 cm with an internal spring, without an external hinge that traps dirt. For front of house, silicone-tipped tongs protect the crockery. For buffets, long 40 cm tongs let guests help themselves comfortably.

What's the difference between a table knife and a sharp-edged knife?

The table knife has a discreet edge intended for cutting tender meats and side dishes; the sharp-edged knife (also called a service knife) is sharper, with serration for tougher meats (sirloin steak, chops). In practice, a well-equipped table includes both models depending on the menu.
