Baking utensils are the tools that let you prepare, assemble, cut and decorate cakes, sponges, cupcakes, ice creams and fondant work with precision and a professional finish. At Hiperchef we bring together more than 70 baking utensils: cake turntables, wire cake levellers, fondant rolling pins and wheels, brushes, scrapers and smoothers, decorating stencils, cooling racks and sourdough kits, from brands such as Ibili, Silikomart, Lacor and PME Cake.

Types of baking utensil

Every stage of a sweet preparation calls for its own tool. These are the groups you'll find in the catalogue, with real examples available in the shop.

For assembling and decorating cakes

Cake turntables rotate the cake while you cover it, so you can smooth the coating evenly; there are models in plastic, glass and stainless steel, and in sizes from 23 cm up to the XXL Hula up versions from Silikomart. They're completed by smoothing strips and combs (De Buyer, PME Cake), rulers for smoothing creams, decorating stencils, pencils and spoons for plate decorating, and the ball chain for borders.

For cutting, levelling and modelling

The wire cake leveller has steel wires that divide the sponge into layers of the same thickness; we stock cake levellers and cutting guides, replacement wires, levelling boards, baking strips, fondant modelling sticks, cutting wheels and cutting and tapered rolling pins.

For brushing, filling and turning out

Silicone and nylon-bristle brushes (Ibili, Lacor, Pujadas, Inoxibar), stainless steel and polypropylene scrapers for working dough, non-stick release sprays, non-stick sheets and paper, egg separators and even the blade for scoring bread.

For ice creams, cake pops and chocolates

Ice cream scoops and portioners, sets of cups with spoons, sticks for cake pops, lollipops and ice lollies, and utensil sets for chocolates and chocolate work.

Materials and brands

The main materials are stainless steel (hygienic and durable), food-grade silicone (flexible and non-stick), polypropylene (lightweight) and beech wood or marble in stands and presses. We work with leading baking brands: Ibili, Silikomart, Lacor, PME Cake, Westmark, De Buyer and Inoxibar.

Frequently asked questions about baking utensils

Which baking utensils do I need to get started?

With a rolling pin, a turntable, a scraper or smoother, a brush and a cooling rack you cover most sponge and cake recipes. From there, you add cake levellers, stencils or fondant kits depending on the type of decoration.

Which material is best for baking utensils?

Stainless steel is the most durable and hygienic for scrapers, cake levellers and turntables; silicone is ideal for brushes, sheets and turning out because it's flexible and non-stick; polypropylene is lightweight and affordable. The choice depends on the use.

How do you use a turntable to decorate cakes?

Place the cake centred on the turntable and rotate it with one hand while, with the other, you apply and smooth the coating with a palette knife or comb. The constant turning gives a smooth, even finish.

Can they be washed in the dishwasher?

Stainless steel and silicone utensils are usually dishwasher safe; those in beech wood and some accessories with glass parts are best washed by hand to preserve them. Always check each product's guidance.

What is a cake leveller?

It's a tool with one or more taut wires that cuts the sponge into horizontal layers of the same thickness, more even than you can achieve with a knife, for filling tiered cakes.
