Hello Gumersindo. Its purpose is for shellfish, but it would also work for some nuts such as hazelnuts; for walnuts we find it rather awkward, to be honest. We have nutcrackers that are very affordable and more convenient. As for the origin, some manufacturers are reluctant to give this information; we know that IBILI make some of their products in Spain, but this particular one we don't think so. Kind regards.
