Description
The Moca Cupra by Ibili is an Italian-style moka pot made of 18/10 stainless steel with the body lacquered in Cupra copper, suitable for all hobs, induction included. Available in four sizes from 2 to 10 cups (100 to 460 ml), with a Bakelite handle that stays cool and an elegant copper finish that ages beautifully. The Moca's 18/10 stainless steel is ferromagnetic and induction hobs detect it without any trouble. A tip from the shop: on hobs with large cooking zones, check the minimum detection diameter if you choose the 2-cup size — it is a small pot; from 4 cups upwards there is rarely a problem, and any size works on flexible zones.
Like every moka pot, it works by steam pressure: water in the base up to the valve, medium-ground coffee in the funnel without tamping, and medium-low heat. The advice we always repeat in the shop: take it off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to gurgle — letting it boil burns the coffee and is the number-one cause of bitter mokas. On induction use medium power: steel heats up quickly and needs no more.
The "cups" of a moka are espresso cups (about 50 ml). For 1-2 people, the 2- or 4-cup; for coffee-loving households, the 6-cup; the 10-cup (460 ml) is the option for gatherings or small offices. If you hesitate between two sizes, pick the smaller one: a moka performs better when full.
Ibili has been making kitchenware in Bergara (Basque Country) for generations. At Hiperchef, where we have been selling kitchenware since 1977, we carry the whole range of Ibili coffee makers and their original spare parts (gaskets and filters): when the rubber loses its seal over the years, it is changed in a minute and the pot is as good as new.
