Description
These round forged iron trivets from Garcima are handmade in Valencia and are the traditional support for cooking paella over a wood or charcoal fire: they raise the paella pan above the embers, let you control the temperature more easily and give even cooking right across the surface. Available in six diameters, from 30 to 110 cm (choose yours from the drop-down menu below the price), with a 3-year guarantee.
If you love paella, one of the most emblematic dishes in Spanish cuisine, you will know that making it the authentic way calls for the right equipment. The trivet is the most fundamental item of all when you cook over a wood fire: it lifts the paella pan off the fire to a stable height, leaves room to feed the flames underneath and spreads the heat evenly. And it is not just for paella: it works equally well as a stand for pots, cauldrons, casseroles and frying pans over the fire, which makes it a real all-rounder for outdoor cooking.
Each trivet is made from forged iron, a solid, extremely hard-wearing material that takes the direct heat of the embers in its stride. The design is practical and simple, easy to use and easy to clean, and compatible with paella pans in any material: polished steel, enamelled steel or iron. As these are hand-forged pieces, the measurements may vary slightly from one unit to the next: the hallmark of genuine craftsmanship.
The general rule is to choose a trivet clearly smaller than the paella pan, so that the pan sits stably on the ring. The 30 cm trivet works well with paella pans of 40 to 55 cm and the 40 cm one with pans of 50 to 80 cm. The 110 cm model has 4 folding legs and is designed for giant paella pans of up to 150 cm, such as our giant paella pan. Sizes of 50 cm and above are supplied to order.

Place the trivet on firm, level ground, set up the wood or charcoal underneath and put the paella pan on once the embers are ready. The height of the trivet lets you feed the fire while cooking without moving the pan. If you are cooking outdoors, a windshield for paella pans will help you keep the flame steady; and if you prefer the convenience of gas, the alternative is a Garcima professional gas paella burner.
It is a round forged iron stand that raises the paella pan (or any pot or frying pan) above a wood or charcoal fire. It lets you control the temperature, feed the flames from below and achieve even cooking.
One clearly smaller than your paella pan: the 30 cm trivet covers pans of 40 to 55 cm and the 40 cm one, pans of 50 to 80 cm. For giant paella pans of up to 150 cm there is the 110 cm trivet with folding legs.
Yes. Although it is most often used for paella, the trivet works as a stand for pots, cauldrons, casseroles and frying pans over a wood or charcoal fire.
Because each trivet is forged by hand in Valencia. Small differences in diameter or height between units are perfectly normal and do not affect how they are used.
