Nemox is an Italian manufacturer of ice cream and sorbet machines based in Pontevico, in the province of Brescia. It has designed and built its machines entirely in Italy since 1986, has produced more than 7 million units, gained ISO 9001 certification in 1994 and sells in more than 60 countries. At Hiperchef we stock its professional gelato machines from the i-Green line, which use R290 refrigerant gas, and the Frix Air processor: ten machines, from the countertop Gelato Chef 3L to the floor-standing Gelato 12K ST with front extraction.
They are professional equipment ordered from the factory: the factory supplies most of them to us in 3 to 4 days, or in 5 to 10 days for the 5K T-Mobile, the 10K CREA and the 5+5K TWIN, with a 1-year parts-only guarantee. The body is stainless steel on all of them. The one customers have bought from us most often is the Gelato Chef 5L automatic; we have also supplied the Gelato 10K Automatic and the Gelato 4K Touch. Machines from other brands and domestic ice cream makers are in ice cream makers.

How to choose a Nemox gelato machine by what you are going to produce
The deciding figure is the kilos of gelato per hour, and behind it the bowl. For a café, a restaurant that wants gelato for dessert or a production kitchen just starting out, with 5 to 10 kg a day, the Gelato Chef 3L (1.7 kg per hour) or the Chef 5L (3 kg per hour) are enough and fit on any worktop. The 4K Touch adds the automatic cycle with storage mode: the operator pours in the mix, presses the button and the machine tells you when it is ready. For steady daily production, the CREA models: the 5K gives 5 kg per hour with 4 automatic and 4 manual programmes and speed control, and the 10K doubles the output without going floor-standing, with 60 to 120 rpm to adapt the paddle to sorbets or to gelato with nuts. For an ice cream parlour with volume, the floor-standing models: the 10K Automatic with just three switches, the 12K ST with front extraction, which lets you take the gelato out standing up and without emptying the bowl, and the 5+5K TWIN, which makes two flavours at once in two independent bowls. The 5K T-Mobile is the 5K on a wheeled trolley for producing and serving in front of the customer at buffets, events and open counters.
On all of them it is best to leave room in the bowl: Nemox advises loading between 1 and 1.2 kg in the 5K CREA and between 1.8 and 2 kg in the 10K CREA, because the gelato gains volume as it churns; the optional extension ring with deflector raises that limit. The models that state the voltage on their product page, the Chef 3L and the 12K ST, run on 220-240 V and 50-60 Hz; the machines come with a European plug, so in the UK they need an adaptor or a change of plug to the type G fitting. The Chef 5L, the 4K Touch and the 10K Automatic are air-cooled, with no water connection. The professional silicone moulds for gelato and pastry that go with these machines are explained in our guide to professional silicone moulds for patisserie and ice cream.
Use and care
The bowl, the paddle and the inserts of the 4K Touch come apart for washing after every service; the machines with a gravity drain (5K and 10K CREA, 10K Automatic) are emptied and rinsed without pumps or hoses. The compressor needs free space around it for the air to circulate, so they are not boxed in against a wall or inside a closed cabinet. At the end of a cycle, those with a storage mode keep the gelato at serving temperature for as long as you want; in the manual mode of the Chef 5L, the electronic system monitors the density and stops the paddle when the mix is firm. When we receive your order we confirm the factory lead time with Nemox before finalising it.
Frequently asked questions about Nemox gelato machines
What is Nemox and where are its machines made?
Nemox is an Italian manufacturer of ice cream and sorbet machines based in Pontevico (Brescia). It has designed and built entirely in Italy since 1986, has produced more than 7 million machines, has held ISO 9001 certification since 1994 and sells in more than 60 countries. The ones we stock at Hiperchef are its professional i-Green line and the Frix Air emulsifier.
What is the difference between the Gelato Chef, the 4K Touch and the CREA models?
The Gelato Chef 3L and 5L are the entry-level models: countertop, 1.7 and 3 kg per hour, with manual and automatic modes. The 4K Touch produces 4 kg per hour with touch controls, an LED bar and automatic switch to storage mode. The CREA NTC models add 4 automatic and 4 manual programmes, electronic control of the paddle speed and a gravity drain: 5 kg per hour for the 5K (3.2 litre bowl) and 10 kg per hour for the 10K (6 litre bowl, 60 to 120 rpm).
How many kilos of gelato does a Nemox machine make per hour?
From 1.7 kg per hour for the Gelato Chef 3L to 12 kg per hour for the Gelato 12K ST. In between: Chef 5L 3 kg, 4K Touch 4 kg, 5K CREA and 5K T-Mobile 5 kg, 10K Automatic 8 kg, 10K CREA 10 kg and 5+5K TWIN 2 x 5 kg in two flavours at once. The cycle takes 10 to 15 minutes on the 5 kg and larger models and 20 to 30 minutes on the Chef models.
What does i-Green mean on Nemox gelato machines?
It is the Nemox line that uses R290 refrigerant gas, which has a lower environmental impact. All the Nemox gelato machines we sell belong to it: Gelato Chef 3L and 5L, 4K Touch, 5K and 10K CREA NTC, 5K T-Mobile, 10K Automatic, 12K ST and 5+5K TWIN.
Do they need installation or a water connection?
No. The Gelato Chef 5L, the 4K Touch and the 10K Automatic are air-cooled, and the product pages for the Chef 3L and the 12K ST state a 220-240 V and 50-60 Hz supply, so you plug them in and they produce. The machines come with a European plug: in the UK you will need an adaptor or to have the plug changed to a type G. Leave free space around the compressor for the air to circulate. The floor-standing models (10K Automatic, 12K ST, 5+5K TWIN and 5K T-Mobile) weigh from 66 to 85 kg: plan the unloading and the space before ordering them.
What guarantee and what lead time do they have?
They are professional products with a 1-year parts-only guarantee. They are ordered from the factory: the factory supplies most of them to us in 3 to 4 days, and takes 5 to 10 days for the 5K T-Mobile, the 10K CREA and the 5+5K TWIN. When we receive your order we confirm availability with Nemox and tell you the dispatch date before finalising it.
How much does a Nemox gelato machine cost?
At Hiperchef, from around €2,400 including VAT for the Gelato Chef 3L to around €14,000 for the Gelato 12K ST; the countertop CREA models sit between €6,000 and €8,500 and the floor-standing ones with trolley or twin bowl between €9,000 and €11,700. The exact price, including VAT, is on each product page.
